Blending Commercial and Residential Design

Commercial and residential designs are often thought about as two separate entities. However, this is in fact a common misconception made by people as they actually share multiple similarities. At Nico Sauzier Design, we ensure that our clients receive the best of both worlds, by granting the opportunity to see how blending different elements of each design can enhance the quality and atmosphere of the other.

A recent project we completed that reflects this collaboration of commercial and residential design is the AOI Group showroom in Burlingame. We were able to transform the design from a typical commercial space into a hybrid design that blends the best features of both a commercial and residential design. While the space can still clearly be distinguished as a commercial environment, the new residential vibe has given the showroom greater personality and highlights to AOI Group’s customers the identity and values of the company.

AOI Group’s showroom now has an identity that embodies their brand, whilst offers their customers a sense of familiarity, comfort and security. Through the design, AOI Group now has greater potential for strong branding and customer retention, as their space is more than just about business, but emphasizing the importance of connecting with customers.

The images throughout this blog illustrate how we transformed the desires of our client into a space that now incorporates the minimalistic elements of commercial design, yet also the core elements of a residential space. Prime examples include the new hardwood floor, the use of edgy lines and finally the inclusion of complex patterns that give the showroom greater vibrancy.

It is also crucial that our current and potential clients know that a residential space can also include commercial elements to add extra value and personality. Adopting more commercial techniques can allow a residential space to become increasingly durable and it is also extremely cost-effective.
